On Friday, October 14, the professed religious brothers of the Order of Malta joined their principal chaplain with Cardinal Donald Wuerl for the blessing of a new library on the lower level of the church. The new library houses the collection of books and some artifacts belonging to Fra' James-Michael von Stroebel. The majority of the donated collection in the library reflect the history of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta (commonly known as The Order of Malta). Cardinal Wuerl blessed the new library which also houses the Parish Archives, recently assembled in organized binders, by Sal Selvaggio. Many know Sal as an usher at the Sunday 11am Mass and also as the parish expert on the stained glass windows of the church. He has worked diligently to pull together the history and articles of the parish in the last years.
Featured in the photo (left to right) for the dedication of the library are: Sal Selvaggio, Msgr. Watkins, Fra' Tom Mulligan, Fra' James-Michael von Stroebel, Cardinal Wuerl, Fra' John Dunlap, Fra' Richard Wolff, and Fra' Nicola Tegoni.
