Maria Bouyat's Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, in Washington, DC, on Thursday, June 10 at 10:00am. Those who wish to livestream the service can do so at stanndc.org/funeral
Maria recently passed away peacefully in her sleep. Affectionally referred to as “Rita” by those closest to her, Maria was the most graceful, kind, and appreciative person to all who knew her. Born and raised in Austria, Maria moved to London and worked at the BBC for a good part of her early adult life. London is also where Maria met her husband Roland, while they were strolling through Hyde Park one sunny afternoon.
The love birds married and moved to Washington, DC, where Roland pursued a career as a French chef. After staying home to raise her children for many years, Maria returned to work at the National Science Foundation where she had a long and successful career. She worked besides some of the greatest minds in government and they always complimented Maria on her initiative, grace, thoroughness, tenacity, leadership skills, and overall incredible work ethic. These qualities earned her numerous awards and recognition. Maria was also an active member of her church and donated much of her free time to helping others. Maria and Roland enjoyed the company of their children and grandchildren very much, spending as much time as possible with them as family was paramount. After 62 years of marriage, Maria recently lost her husband earlier this year. We take great comfort in knowing our parents are reunited once again.
