Written by George & Denise Bouyat, son & daughter of Roland Bouyat:
This super handsome guy is our father, affectionally referred to as “Bebert” by those closest to him. Dad was the kindest, gentlest and sweetest man. Born and raised in France on July 25,1931, Dad left his homeland to pursue a life in the culinary arts. Dad moved to London where he landed a job at the Savoy hotel and had an opportunity to cook for Queen Elizabeth. Strolling the grounds of Hyde Park one day, Dad came upon a beautiful Austrian lady sitting on a bench whom he later married in Canada. A job opportunity landed the family in Washington DC where Dad became a renowned Chef. Appearing on television for his cooking skills and written about often by Phyllis Richman, a food critic for the Washington Post, Dad had a very successful career. In later years, he retired and settled in the Washington, DC area and spent a lot of time spoiling his grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed many years together but ultimately Dad was not able to endure the virus and passed due to COVID complications. He lived his life with grace and humility, and he will be sorely missed.
